Increasing Confidence

16th March 2024

I wanted to share a bit about me that not many of you will know......

If you had told me 10 or maybe 5 years ago I would be sat at my desk with a snake up my sleeve or I would be sat having a cuppa with one round my neck.

I would have said you have the wrong person! however...

we now have, not 1, but 2 snakes.... 🐍

Now after having snakes in the family for a while, I can see the value in having these unique creature living with us.

Not only are they fascinating to watch when they are on their daily travels (the way they move, the way they yawn) they are also helping my girls with their confidence.

Our snakes help our girls learn about looking after someone else as well as helping with their reading 😄

We had the pleasure of taking them into school last week, to bring learning to life as our youngest is learning about reptiles.

We then took the snakes into our eldest's class. She is struggling with a bit of anxiety and her teachers thought it may help for her to talk about her snake. She stood up in front on her class and another class spoke confidently about how she takes care of them, what they eat and how to tell if they are a boy or girl. She answered any questions that were asked about them.

All the children loved it! They stroked the snakes, if they wanted to and asked great questions. The snakes also seemed to enjoy the experience, not wanting to go back in their vivarium's 😊

While we were in school. Two of the teachers were clearly nervous about snakes and moved far away from them. By the end of the sessions the two teachers held the snakes!

By talking to the teachers about their fears we were able to give them confidence, encouragement and support to hold the snakes. They were delighted by the end that they had over come their fear and that it wasn't as bad as they thought.

Its amazing the power of conversation, getting to understand fears and anxiety. What a great way to help learning and development for everyone!

Do you have unique ways to help give confidence and increase self-esteem?

Happy International Women's Day!

8th March 2024

Today marks International Women's Day!

A day to honour the achievements, resilience, and incredible contributions of women worldwide.

This years theme for International Women's Day 2024 is Inspire Inclusion.

I am lucky enough to be spending the day with many inspirational women at the #Lovebiz Awards in Birmingham.

I couldn't think of a better way to be celebrating these great ladies. I was honoured to receive two nominations for the awards this year.

With this in mind I want to highlight that women at 28% less likely, than men, to have CPR compressions commenced on them due to their bra.

Ladies, what are your thoughts on this?

Hands up who wouldn't mind if they were in a life or death situation? 🙋‍♀️

I for one am happy to have CPR compressions done on me if the need ever arose.

Lets get the message out there for all #braoffdefibon

Collectively, let's forge a more inclusive world for women.

Happy International Women's Day!
